ARCO takes another step toward improving Mt. Ida and surrounding areas

Arkansas Regional Coalition of the Ouachitas (ARCO) had its monthly meeting at Rich Mountain Community College on Wednesday February 15th.  Guest speakers were Mark Peterson from the University of Arkansas Extension Service who made a presentation on how he is going to help the communities make improvements and Jerry Shields and Al Gathright from the Traildogs.

Gar Eisele of Mena, who chairs the Coalition and is also actively involved in their chamber, commented on what a wonderful turnout it was and the importance of getting communities together to accomplish great and wonderful projects by sharing fresh ideas and donating time to get the projects done.

  It was discussed that each and every citizen could make a difference in their community and that very little money was needed if everyone could donate time in creating a more economical and inviting atmosphere for tourists and visitors to the Montgomery, Polk, and Scott County areas.  “We have it all folks, and the Coalition is very pleased with the cooperation and enthusiasm it is receiving from all three counties involved,” said Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce Director Maureen Walther.
