On Thursday, October 20, 2011, the Rich Mountain Community College Board of Trustees and Foundation Board members hosted an open house and reception at the new RMCC Montgomery County Center in Mount Ida. The event was well attended by RMCC staff, students, Board of Trustees members, Foundation Board members, Mount Ida Chamber of Commerce members, contractors of Wade Abernathy, Inc., Montgomery County office and elected officials, as well as a host of Montgomery County and surrounding area citizens. Mr. Phillip Wilson, RMCC President, gave a welcome and opened the ribbon cutting ceremony. Wilson recognized Nancy Booth, RMCC TRiO Educational Opportunity Center Representative and Benny Weston, Mount Ida Public Schools Superintendent for their leadership and commitment to the realization of the new center.
